Ai Changqing, an engineer of Tianjin Internal Combustion Engine Research Institute, who has been engaged in the certification of diesel engine emission standards for a long time, said that the EU stage IIIB emission standards have imposed more stringent restrictions on the emission of particulates from engines, from 0.2g/kWh to 0.025g/kWh. To meet this limit, diesel engines must be equipped with particulate filters to address this problem.
What impact will the implementation of stage IIIB emission standards bring to China's construction machinery exports? Wang Zuguang, secretary of Liugong's board of directors, told the author, "Because domestic engines still cannot meet the export requirements, Liugong can only purchase engines from foreign brands." To solve the problem of emission standards through international procurement, Liugong will improve emission standards in Europe and the United States. Relevant technical reserves have already been prepared.
"For a 5-ton loader, the price of a domestic engine is about 40,000 to 50,000 yuan, while foreign brands need about 70,000 to 80,000 yuan. As a buyer, companies can only earn less." China Construction Machinery Industry Wang Jinxing, director of the general office of the association, said frankly.
The continuous improvement of foreign emission standards will further raise the export threshold of Chinese construction machinery. A machinery industry analyst said in an interview: "The biggest advantage of China's construction machinery is price. Purchasing higher-standard foreign engines will further increase the cost of products and weaken the export competitiveness of products."
In recent years, domestic infrastructure construction has developed vigorously, and Chinese construction machinery companies such as XCMG, Zoomlion, and Sany Heavy Industry have achieved leapfrog development, all of which have proposed a "100 billion-level" development plan. According to the plan, overseas markets account for a large proportion of them. The implementation of the new emission standards will challenge the large-scale entry of Chinese construction machinery products into the international market.
