Development status of foreign roller enterprises
At present, the world famous road roller manufacturers include German Bomag, Sweden Dynapac, American Ingersoll Rand, German Hummer, Swiss Ammann, Japan Sakai, American Caterpillar, German Webermax and so on. In addition, Germany's Lausenhausen, the United States Dresser, etc. have also produced a large number of rollers.
1. BOMAG
Founded in 1957, the company initially designed walk-behind double-drum road rollers. So far, it is still the largest company in the world's compaction machinery industry, accounting for about 30% of the world's road roller market. It is world-renowned for product quality and technological innovation. . In May 2001, Bomag was acquired by SPX, a US industrial conglomerate, and subsequently sold to privately owned Fayat in January 2005. In 1987, Luoyang Construction Machinery Factory introduced its BW217D single-drum and BW141AD double-drum vibratory roller technologies.
In 2002, Bomag opened its first production plant, Bomag (Shanghai), in a joint venture with its general agent in China (BMW Machinery Co., Ltd.). In February 2007, a new factory, Bomag (China), was wholly-owned and built in Fengxian District, Shanghai, China. The factory covers an area of 3.4 hectares and the plant area is about 10,000 square meters. It has now become a manufacturing base for North America and Australia; And Bomag (Shanghai) has been transformed into a trading company.
2. DYNAPAC
Founded in 1934, Dynapac has more than 70 years of experience in the field of compaction and paving. It is a leader in the compaction and paving industry and a pioneer in vibration theory with an international reputation. Its compaction products include 7 categories including single-drum vibratory rollers, double-drum vibratory rollers, and combined rollers, with a total of more than 80 models, accounting for about 18% of the world roller market share. In 1988, Dynapac established the International Compaction and Paving Technology Center in Karlskrona, Sweden, and its Combase&Pavbase software has become a must-have for many contractors around the world.
In 2000, it established Dynapac (China) Compaction and Paving Equipment Co., Ltd. in Wuqing, Tianjin, China, to produce compaction equipment, asphalt concrete paver and small machinery for leveling concrete surfaces. The equipment is mainly for the domestic market and has been exported in small quantities since 2004.
3. Ingersoll-Rand
Ingersoll Rand's road roller production plant was established in the 1930s, and its products include single-wheel vibratory rollers, twin-wheel vibratory rollers, tire rollers, and more.
Ingersoll Rand established a joint venture plant in Wuxi, Jiangsu, China in 1997 to produce road rollers, which are sold to the Southeast Asian market. In March 2007 Volvo acquired Ingersoll Rand's road construction business. At present, Volvo (China) Construction Machinery Co., Ltd. produces three single-drum vibratory rollers of 10-25 tons and three double-drum vibratory rollers of 11-13 tons. The painting has also changed from Ingersoll-Rand's black and white painting to VOLVO of yellow and black paint.
4. HAMM
Founded in 1878, Hummer has nearly 450 workers around the world and is currently the fourth largest manufacturer of compaction equipment in the world. Its product line includes self-propelled soil and asphalt compaction equipment from 1.5 tons to 26 tons. In 2005, the production reached nearly 4,000 units (sales of 160 million euros); in August 1999, it was acquired by Wirtgen, which specializes in the production of road maintenance and waste equipment.
Wirtgen established a joint venture plant in Langfang, Hebei, China in 2004 to assemble Hummer rollers and Vögele pavers, while providing customer service. The key product of the road roller is the double-drum vibratory road roller. Currently, only one 14-ton double-drum vibratory road roller and one 20-ton single-drum vibratory road roller are assembled for sale in the Chinese market.
5. Ammann
Ammann has been producing power rollers since 1911. Its twin-drum vibratory rollers of 4 tons and below are produced at the European headquarters of Langenthal, Switzerland. The large-tonnage twin-drum vibratory rollers and single-drum vibratory rollers were transferred from Switzerland to the Stavostroj plant in Czechoslovakia in October 2005. Trench rollers are produced at the Rammax subsidiary in Metzingen, Germany.
6. Sakai (SAKAI)
Sakai Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. was established in 1918 and began to produce road rollers in 1929. With more than 80 years of production experience, it is the largest and most historic professional manufacturer of road construction and road maintenance equipment in Japan. Sakai Heavy Industries has successively established overseas manufacturing plants in Atlanta in the United States, Jakarta in Indonesia, and Shanghai in China. Its main products include compaction equipment such as vibratory rollers, static rollers, small walk-behind compaction equipment, and various road maintenance machinery such as milling machines, small pavers, and pavement cooling and recycling machines.
7. Caterpillar (CATERPLLAR)
Caterpillar's Road Construction Machinery Plant (CCPI) was established in 1985 and consists of four factories, mainly producing road rollers, cold milling machines, mixers and road reclaimers. There are four types of road rollers: landfill compactors, CS and CP series (smooth and bump rollers) single-drum vibratory rollers, CB series double-drum vibratory rollers, and PS series tire rollers.
Caterpillar established a wholly-owned factory in Xuzhou, Jiangsu, China in 2002. Before 2003, a small number of single-drum vibratory road rollers were produced in Xuzhou, but production was stopped between 2004 and 2006; in 2006, the production of road rollers was resumed, focusing on the development of double-drum products, but the output has not been large.
8. Vibromax
The production of heavy-duty road rollers from Webermax Compacting Equipment Co., Ltd. began in 1992 and the production of light-duty compacting equipment in 1994.
Webermax was acquired by British manufacturer JCB in September 2005. Heavy-duty equipment such as single-drum soil vibratory rollers and double-drum road rollers are its main sales products. At the same time, it also provides a complete set of light-duty compaction equipment such as plate compactors and vibratory plate compactors. The company's current production of all compaction equipment is about 2,500 units.
